This Saturday, October 3, 2026. Braids and Balance Hairloss Studio is joining Kris Kaylin at the Her Safety, Her Strength Women's Empowerment Event in Charleston. Our trichologist, Satura Mathis, will lead a free workshop called "Her Hair, Her Health, Her Confidence."
When we talk about women's development, we often mean careers, finances, leadership, and safety. All of that matters. But real growth also means understanding your own body well enough to notice when something changes, ask the right questions, and speak up for yourself.
Her Safety, Her Strength is hosted by Kris Kaylin, media personality and host of the Princess Diaries podcast, a voice for women owning their crowns. The day brings together instructors, community leaders, and local businesses committed to helping women grow stronger in mind, body, and confidence.
Alongside hair and scalp education, the published schedule includes yoga, self-defense training, firearms safety education, and a closing empowerment panel. It's a rare chance to invest in every part of yourself in one day, surrounded by women who are doing the same.

What You'll Gain From the Workshop
This session is about building knowledge you can carry for life and pass on to the women around you.
- Recognize the early signs. Learn the common types of hair loss, from tension-related thinning at the edges to shedding after stress or childbirth, so you can catch changes early instead of years later.
- Read what your scalp is telling you. Flaking, redness, itching, and tenderness are messages. You'll learn what they may point to.
- Connect your hair to your health. Hormonal changes, thyroid concerns, low iron, nutrition, and stress can all be associated with hair changes. Knowing this helps you walk into your doctor's office with confident, specific questions.
- Protect your crown on your own terms. Protective styles can be beautiful and empowering. We'll cover how to wear braids, extensions, and sleek looks in ways that protect your hairline.
-
Know when to ask for help. Sudden or patchy loss, pain, or smooth bald spots are signs not to wait. Advocating for yourself means knowing when to call in a professional, whether that's a trichologist, a dermatologist, or your doctor.
See Your Scalp for Yourself
We're bringing our digital scalp scope. It magnifies your scalp so you can see your follicles, buildup, and hair density with your own eyes, details no mirror can show you.
For many women, that first look is a turning point. It replaces guessing with seeing. A scope look isn't a diagnosis, but it's a powerful first step toward understanding your scalp and deciding what to do next.
